If you have young children at home, they probably love mac n’ cheese. Although instructions for boxed mac n’ cheese are pretty easy to follow, there are many ways to prepare this recipe that is so popular among children to make it more interesting.

Today, Salud brings you a recipe for mac n’ cheese with which you can incorporate veggies onto your children’s diet.

Ingredients for 4 portions
  • 1 lb elbow macaroni dry
  • 5 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cooked broccoli
  • 2 tbsp chopped chives

In a large pot, boil the milk.

Add the pasta, and stir constantly until it is fully cooked, about 10 minutes.

After turning off the fire, add the cheddar cheese, and stir until the cheese melts and the pasta is coated evenly.

Add the broccoli and stir some more so it spreads around.

Decorate with the chives sprinkling it over the pasta, and it is ready to serve.

We hope you try this recipe and that your kids and you love it. You can make your own version by switching up the veggies. If anyone in your family is a vegan, you can substitute the milk for soy or almond milk, and the cheese for vegan cheese and remove the dairy out of the equation.
